The Himachal Pradesh High Court has upheld its stance against granting bail to Abhishek Sharma, a central figure in a sprawling cryptocurrency scam valued at ₹2,000 crore. The scheme reportedly ensnared over 80,000 investors, including more than 1,000 police personnel across Himachal Pradesh and adjacent states.

Justice Sushil Kukreja emphasized the gravity of economic crimes, stating their societal impact outweighs procedural delays in trials. Investigations reveal Sharma's close ties to Subhash Sharma, the alleged mastermind who has since fled India. With no substantial change in circumstances since his last rejected bail plea, Sharma remains in custody since October 2023.

The case underscores regulatory challenges in India's crypto landscape, where high-profile frauds continue to test judicial resolve. Authorities trace the scam's origins to 2018, though it gained notoriety only after investor Arun Singh Guleria filed a formal complaint.
